How to Integrate GoHighLevel with Zapier in 2026

The current Zapier app for GoHighLevel is called LeadConnector. It can create or update contacts and opportunities, add leads to workflows, react to pipeline changes and connect GoHighLevel with thousands of external applications.
At GHL Focus, we use Zapier when an external app has no reliable native connection or when a workflow needs a simple bridge. We do not add Zapier when the same result can be handled safely inside GoHighLevel. Every extra platform adds another place where data can fail.

Before connecting GoHighLevel and Zapier
- Define the trigger and the single result you expect.
- Choose which system owns each contact field.
- Decide how existing contacts will be matched.
- List required fields and acceptable fallback values.
- Confirm consent before adding contacts to marketing workflows.
Do not use an old GoHighLevel API v1 key. HighLevel states that legacy API keys have reached end of life. For the normal Zapier connection, use the current LeadConnector app. For custom server-to-server work, use API v2 with a private integration token or OAuth 2.0.
How to connect LeadConnector to Zapier
- Sign in to Zapier and create a new Zap.
- Select the app that should start the automation.
- Choose the exact trigger event and connect that account.
- Test the trigger with a realistic sample record.
- Add an action and search for LeadConnector.
- Connect the correct GoHighLevel location.
- Select an action such as Add or Update Contact, Add or Update Opportunity, Add Lead to Workflow or Add Task.
- Map only the fields required by the process.
- Test the action with a dedicated test contact.
- Confirm the result inside GoHighLevel before publishing the Zap.
A practical lead-sync example
Suppose a WordPress form creates a new enquiry. The Zap can create or update the contact in LeadConnector, set the lead source, add the correct tag and create an opportunity in the appropriate pipeline.
The matching rule matters. Use a stable identifier such as email or phone and test what happens when one value is missing. Avoid separate Create Contact and Create Opportunity Zaps that can run in the wrong order. Prevent duplicates and broken data
- Use update actions where appropriate. Repeated events should update the same record rather than create another contact.
- Normalize phone numbers. Store a consistent country code format.
- Map dropdown values carefully. The source value must match the destination option.
- Keep one owner for each field. Two-way updates can create loops.
- Add a source value. Make attribution visible inside the CRM.
- Review Zap errors. A live Zap still needs monitoring.
When to use native GoHighLevel workflows instead
Use a native workflow when the trigger, data and action already exist inside GoHighLevel. Examples include appointment reminders, opportunity movement, internal notifications, lead assignment and follow-up sequences. Native automation is normally easier to test and support.
Use Zapier when the process must connect an external application that has a suitable Zapier trigger or action. For larger public integrations, complex volume or custom error handling, a direct API integration may be more appropriate.
